The Super Bowl 44 betting line seems to have settled at 5.5 to 6 at most places after some heavy early money on the Indianapolis Colts moved them from 3-point favorites to where they stand now.
Bookmakers seem to expect more movement closer to game day. According to WhatToWager.com’s NFL betting system, the New Orleans Saints are getting value here. They should only be half-point underdogs at a neutral site.
But, apparently the betting public has been scared by what was perceived to be a lucky win for them over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game. Gamblers who lost money on the Saints last week aren’t likely to bet on them again right away, either.
Here is an interesting chart of the Super Bowl 44 line movement at various sports books.
The WhatToWager.com NFL betting system likes the New York Jets again.
The betting system correctly picked the Jets to cover last week as road underdogs against the Cincinnati Bengals. New York was getting 2.5 points in last week’s NFL wild card round.
This week, in the AFC Divsional Playoffs, the WhatToWager.com NFL betting system again likes the New York Jets as road underdogs. This time, the Jets are getting 7 points at the second-seeded San Diego Chargers.
The Jets-Chargers game is the only one of the four NFL playoff games this weekend that WTW recommends. The other games are the Baltimore Ravens at the top-seeded Indianapolis Colts, the Dallas Cowboys at the Brett Favre-led Minnesota Vikings and Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals at the top-seeded New Orleans Saints.
