The WhatToWager.com NCAA betting system looks to go 3-1 in the NCAA Tournament today, picking Michigan State getting two points against Tennessee in a Final Four qualifying game in the Midwest Region. The Spartans plus-2 have a five-point edge according to the WhatToWager.com NCAA betting system.

WTW has correctly picked two of the first three NCAA Tournament games it has recommended, consistent with its 66-percent success ratio.

March 20th, 2010 by Smitty

The WhatToWager.com NCAA betting system is one-for-one so far in the NCAA Tournament. The college basketball betting system suggested taking Gonzaga giving 1.5 points to Florida State in the first round West Regional and the Bulldogs responded with a 67-60 victory.

The WTW NCAA betting system recommends two second-round games in the NCAA Tournament: New Mexico plus-2.5 points against Washington in the East Regional; and Purdue plus-1.5 points against Texas A&M in the South Regional.

The WhatToWager.com NCAA betting system has a 66 percent success rate over two seasons.

NCAA Basketball Betting System off to a winning start

February 20th, 2010 by Smitty

We started collecting NCAA basketball statistics and line information only last year in hopes of finding a winning college basketball betting system. We still consider this to be a beta program, since one-plus seasons of data isn’t really enough to make bold projections. However, the result have been startling so far.

The WhatToWager.com NCAA basketball betting system is hitting at a 67-percent success rate so far, well above the 53 percent needed to make money against a standard vig. The system has gone 14-2 in February alone.

Our college basketball betting system favors teams with a 3-point advantage against the line, home or away.

Dwight Freeney might miss Super Bowl

January 31st, 2010 by Smitty

Yikes. Wonder how the possible absence of Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney from Super Bowl 44 might affect the betting line?

New Orleans Saints fans might not be able to get 5.5 or 6 points for long.

Super Bowl line settling down — for now

January 30th, 2010 by Smitty

The Super Bowl 44 betting line seems to have settled at 5.5 to 6 at most places after some heavy early money on the Indianapolis Colts moved them from 3-point favorites to where they stand now.

Bookmakers seem to expect more movement closer to game day. According to WhatToWager.com’s NFL betting system, the New Orleans Saints are getting value here. They should only be half-point underdogs at a neutral site.

But, apparently the betting public has been scared by what was perceived to be a lucky win for them over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game. Gamblers who lost money on the Saints last week aren’t likely to bet on them again right away, either.

Here is an interesting chart of the Super Bowl 44 line movement at various sports books.

NFL betting system likes New York Jets plus-7 at San Diego Chargers

January 14th, 2010 by Smitty

The WhatToWager.com NFL betting system likes the New York Jets again.

The betting system correctly picked the Jets to cover last week as road underdogs against the Cincinnati Bengals. New York was getting 2.5 points in last week’s NFL wild card round.

This week, in the AFC Divsional Playoffs, the WhatToWager.com NFL betting system again likes the New York Jets as road underdogs. This time, the Jets are getting 7 points at the second-seeded San Diego Chargers.

The Jets-Chargers game is the only one of the four NFL playoff games this weekend that WTW recommends. The other games are the Baltimore Ravens at the top-seeded Indianapolis Colts, the Dallas Cowboys at the Brett Favre-led Minnesota Vikings and Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals at the top-seeded New Orleans Saints.

NFL betting system turns out one game in wild card round

January 5th, 2010 by Smitty

The New York Jets made a believer out of the WhatToWager.com NFL betting system. After their big win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the betting system has the Jets with a slight edge against the spread. The Bengals are favored at home by 2.5 points, despite a 37-0 loss to the Jets last Sunday.

The Jets have a 3.29-point edge in WhatToWager.com’s betting system, barely qualifying them as a WTW recommendation.

Another dangerous week in NFL betting

December 31st, 2009 by Smitty

This is a tricky weekend for NFL betting. Who’s playing, who’s laying down, who’s motivated?

The WhatToWager.com NFL betting system really isn’t built for a week like this, where many players will be resting to get ready for the playoffs. Take a look at the picks the system spits out this week, but you really need to research this week.

For example, the WTW system thinks that the Indianapolis Colts getting nine points is crazy against the Buffalo Bills. But, the fact that Indy will be resting players, particularly quarterback Peyton Manning, for the playoffs, has turned the Colts from likely 11-point favorites to underdogs.

There are probably values out there, but do your homework before laying out money in Week 17. This story is a good place to start.
